I was so touched to receive a lovely email from author and fellow artist Michael Feeney Callan, whose Wikipedia entry and website make for interesting reading. Amongst other things, Michael has written biographies of Robert Redford, Sean Connery and Sir Anthony Hopkins. Watch my film to learn more. He writes:
“WOW!! ... the drawing (and cap!) are absolutely SUPERB! The concept is terrific. It's truly a worthy, classy tribute to John from a great fellow artist - you. It's strange and wonderful to think of my own childhood in Dublin, seeing John in HELP! wearing those beautiful caps and, as a kid and big admirer/fan, trying to emulate "the look" by getting my sister to stitch a baker boy's cap with extra fabric to raise the front ridge. And now, these years later, I'm honoured to be chatting to the creator of those caps. It'll be a real delight to see this come to fruition, Helen - we're so very pleased for you. Fans will go crazy for this precious item.”
