“Now and Then” - my story
Share
I have listened, for the last 4 years, to our dear friend Javier Parisi singing so beautifully "Now and Then" (click here to watch his video on Instagram). This gently poetic and poignant song by John Lennon was written in New York around 1977, not long before his terrible death and around the time I last spoke with John on the phone. Javier’s pure voice is so like John’s that this tribute has always been a bit of a tear jerker for me! So I was really looking forward to the very exciting new release of this “last” song and hearing it polished with the contributions of Paul, George, Ringo and of course with a little help from AI. We attended a lovely listening party today at Roag Best's Beatles Museum on Mathew Street, a few doors down from The Cavern. It was wonderful to be present for this little moment in rock & roll history (and to be interviewed by a few film crews from NHK and Asahi TV). The mural behind the stage is of John wearing the cap I designed for him in 1963, which you can buy right here on my website.
